The Silver Dawn introduced in 1949 was a \”badge-engineered\” Bentley Mark VI and became an enormously successful early post-war car. Aimed at the lucrative American market, the Silver Dawn offered an eminently usable Rolls-Royce and appealed to the owner-driver. Its silky road manners are quite simply delightful, and entirely suitable for modern motoring.
The magnificent 1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn saloon featured here is finished in stunning Masons Black over Beige Connolly leather surrounded by magnificent Burled Walnut woodwork. This exquisite US-spec Silver Dawn was ordered new through J.S. Inskip Rolls-Royce by Walter C. Pugh, founder of Sun Oil (Sunoco). It was completed at the factory in November 1953 and delivered new to him on Christmas Eve that year. Mr. Pugh cared for the car for many years until it was sold to its second owner in the early 1970s before being added to a world-class collection in 2008 where it was restored to a Concours level with no expense spared.
This particular car was built at a time when Rolls-Royce was building the world’s finest motorcars with the care and craftsmanship evident in every detail. We are extremely pleased to offer the very best Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn for your special occasion.
